Fundraising - Getting started

Before you start fundraising you need a plan.  A plan not only about how much money you need to raise, but also a plan with some innovative and exciting ways of how you are going to do it.  Luckily there are lots of resources out there to help.Money jar

 

Community Resource Kit
CommunityNet's Community Resource Kit has a whole section on Raising Funds.  It includes a chapter on creating a fundraising plan, as well as information on fundraising options and funding application checklists.  This great resource can be downloaded free from the CommunityNet website - just click here.

SPARC Fundraising and Sponsorship Information
SPARC's Clubkit has a section on Fundraising and Sponsorship which looks at the basics of sponsorship and fundraising, from describing the different types of funding to walking you through how to set up your funding strategies.  Click here to see SPARC's Funding and Information page.

Fundraising Ideas NZ 
Fundraising Ideas NZ is a completely free website full of hundreds of fundraising ideas, searchable by region or by topic.  It also has fundraising stories and an A-Z list of fundraising ideas (under their DIY Ideas section).  Click here to see the Fundraising Ideas NZ website.

 

Exult
Exult is a company that provides training and training resources to the community sector, and on their website they have heaps of different ideas to fundraise.  Ideas such as producing calendars, food festivals, coin trails and even a wear your slippers to work day!

Exult lists all the ideas on their website for free - just click here.  You never know, your next fundraising idea may be just around the corner.

Exult also produce some resources you can purchase - or you could join with other organisations to purchase and share!

The Seriously Good Guide to Fundraising
The Seriously Good Guide to Fundraising is a fantastic book that is now available on CD.  It provides practical ideas and advice for community groups wanting to raise funds. Sustainable Funding Workshops
Exult's Sustainable Funding Workshops are now on DVD.  The DVD allows you to be a fly on the wall at one of Exult's workshops and learn everything you need to know about getting enough money for your organisation on an ongoing basis.  There is also a Sustainable Funding DVD/CD Planning Kit.

 

Foresee Communications
Foresee Communications are specialists in fundraising and sponsorship advice and resources.  They  have a range of resources for purchase to assist you in your fundraising goals including Resource Kits on the Beginner's Guide to Fundraising, Big Bucks for Buildings and Fundraising for Schools and Pre-schools.  They also publish Fundraising in New Zealand magazine.
