What does the Rugby World Cup mean for volunteers?

Rugby World Cup fever has hit...but what, if anything, does it mean for the voluntary sector?
There are more than 5,000 Kiwis volunteering for the Rugby World Cup...does that mean the Cup is encouraging volunteerism or does it mean that volunteers are giving their time to the Cup instead of other worthy causes? Are you losing volunteers to the hyp
e of the Cup? Or gaining some?
There's more than one million fans on the Rugby World Cup's Facebook page, where the organisers are promoting activities like dressing up your street for the cup. Through activities like this, is the Cup going to bring communities together in a positive way?
And with more than 80,000 international visitors expected on our doorstep, obviously that's going to create opportunities and challenges for all sectors of our community - including the voluntary sector.
I'm really keen to hear your views on the Rugby World Cup. How is it impacting on your organisation? Are you volunteering for the Cup? If so, what is motivating you to do so?
Lots of questions....and I'm looking forward to some really interesting answers (and of course an All Black win!)
